Elijah received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he studied the molecular mechanisms of regeneration in frogs and evolutionary changes in beetles. He is currently part of UCLA’s Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), and after completing two years of medical school, he joined the Butler Laboratory as a graduate student in 2025. Elijah is interested in using stem cell-based models to better understand the molecular mechanisms that underlie sensory processing and perception within the spinal cord. He hopes that this knowledge can be applied to translational research in his future career as a physician-scientist. Outside of the lab, Elijah enjoys hiking, stargazing, gaming, and exercising regularly.
